I come from a family of musicians. My Mom had a professional career as a light opera singer before she met my Dad and had a family. We still have her '78 rpms! My Dad taught himself to play piano, violin, viola, banjo and any other instrument he could get his hands on. All of my siblings and I were always playing something (not always together, of course!), and we all play by ear.
I must have my Dad’s penchant for wanting to learn different instruments. I’ve been playing bass for a long time, and know enough piano, keyboards and electric and acoustic guitar to be dangerous. I don’t have my Mom’s voice, but I make do.
Thanks to my older brothers, I grew up listening to what I call the four major food groups of rock & roll: The Beatles; the Stones; the Who; and the Kinks. The first record I ever bought was the ’45 single of Smoke on the Water. I bought it from my brother (!). Deep Purple remains a huge influence with their mix of jazz, blues rock and classical. And I think Oasis is the greatest band of my generation, with Noel Gallagher being its finest songwriter.
As a DIY singer/songwriter/musician, I record, arrange and produce all of my own material. It’s a labor of love, and I hope you enjoy my music.
